Our Community Work
The USPCA engages in a number of programs to support animal welfare and responsible pet ownership in and around Kampala and Entebbe and even beyond these main urban areas.
The USPCA opens its doors to community and school groups to spread the word about animal welfare and to help adults and children understand the importance of being kind to animals and practising responsible pet guardianship. USPCA staff and volunteers have also visited local schools to teach humane education lessons.
Our work has included no-cost community clinics for spay/neuter, vaccinations, and basic vet care. We offer these services to pet guardians in low-income and slum areas where there is no access to, or ability to pay for, vet services.
Since its inception in 1997, community initiatives have also included animal checkpoints on main roads in and around Kampala to ensure the proper transport of chickens, cows, and goats and Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return programs to control the community cat population.
